The characteristics for Alabama state
Alabama has the following characteristics:
First, the southernmost tip of the Appalachian Mountains lies within the state. The Alabama River Basin is also within the state.
Second, Birmingham, Alabama, is the largest steel city in the southern states of the United States.
Thirdly, Alabama's soil is fertile (known as the Black Soil Belt) and suitable for cotton planting. The Tennessee River flows from east to west across the northern part of the state. The rapid development of hydropower industry is of great help to the rise of industry in the state.
Fourthly, coal, iron, bauxite and petroleum in the northeastern part of Alabama. The forest area accounts for about 65% of the state's area. Sawmill and paper industry are very prosperous. The main crops are peanuts, soybeans, walnuts, cotton and broilers.
