Beautiful and Traditional Shangma Winery
Shangma Winery was founded in 1983, and the current winery building was completed in 1988. Chammar is one of the most beautiful and traditional wineries in New England.
In the spring of 1984, the first vines were planted on 5.5 acres. Chardonnay was the main grape variety, and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir were planted. From 1986 to 1992, the vineyard was expanded to 20 acres. In the summer of 1988, the Shangma Vineyard was rebuilt and formally became a licensed farm winery. Chateau Chateau's first wine, Chardonnay Dry White Wine 1988, was released and sold in November 1989. At present, the average annual output of the winery is 6,000 boxes.
Shangma Vineyard is dedicated to making high-quality wine from classic European wine grapes. Chardonnay, the world's noblest white grape variety, is the most suitable variety for growing in the region. The vineyards cover 40 acres of gentle slopes along the southern coast of
Connecticut, just two miles from the Long Island Strait. The 20-acre vineyards include Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Shangma's classic New England style winery is made of stone. The raw materials are the original stones of the winery and the trees harvested inside the winery.
