Annapolis is the capital of Maryland, a historic city with many historic sites and 18th century buildings, known as "Athens of the United States".
The Catholic Church, built in 1692, is intact. The red-brick state parliament hall, built in 1772, is the oldest building in the American state parliaments. After the victory of the War of Independence, it signed a treaty with the British colonists. In addition, there are more than 60 old houses preserved before the independence of the United States. There are tunnels and bridges on both sides of the Seven River. There is the Naval Academy and the Naval Museum founded in 1845.
